- * True Natural Gas charges the high end of its filed range at sign-up. True Rewards does not reduce that charge. It is a per-therm loyalty discount for active residential customers: $0.01 off per therm after 12 consecutive months of on-time payments and uninterrupted service, then another $0.01 per therm for each further 12 months in good standing, up to $0.05 per therm on a fixed-rate plan. The discount is forfeited if service is cut off for non-pay or the customer switches marketers. It is offered only with no more than two delinquencies, no broken payment arrangement, and no returned checks. - Why does annual cost matter more than the rate per therm?
- A low per-therm rate with a high monthly service charge can cost more over a year than a slightly higher rate with a lower fee. - Can every household buy every plan in the table?
- Not always. Some plans are limited to Metro Atlanta AGL pool groups. Look up your ZIP, or ask the marketer for your address before you enroll. Households that cannot get a market plan may be assigned to Georgia's regulated provider.

For most households the best plan is the lowest filed annual cost among the plan type that fits them: a fixed rate for a predictable bill, variable if you expect to move soon, a senior plan if you are 65 or over, or prepay if you would rather pay in advance. - How many therms of natural gas a month do I use, and how does that change my cost?
- Your bill shows your therms each month; add up a year of bills for your own total. For comparison the Georgia PSC assumes 641 therms a year, about 53 a month on average, with far more in winter than summer. Only the per-therm part of the bill grows with usage. The marketer's monthly service charge and the Atlanta Gas Light base charge ($580.53 a year in the PSC's October 2026 example) stay the same however much you use. At the lowest standard 12-month fixed rate filed this month ($0.650 per therm), every extra 100 therms a year adds about $65.00. The higher your usage, the more the per-therm rate matters relative to the service charge.
- Do Georgia natural gas rates vary by ZIP code or area?
- The PSC chart lists one filed price per plan, not a price per ZIP code. What varies by area is which plans you can buy (and, for a few plans, the service charge, as the plan's note on the chart says). AGL divides its system into nine delivery (pool) groups, three of them in Metro Atlanta, and marketers may limit a plan to the Metro Atlanta groups. On the PSC's October 2026 chart, five fixed plans are limited to Metro Atlanta. That is why Open Natural Gas shows the lowest statewide standard plan and the lowest Metro-Atlanta new-customer plan separately. Your AGL base charge also depends on your own premises. Look up your ZIP in the pool-groups guide, and confirm availability for your address with the marketer.
